Lower resolution alert on export page, while res in fact not

PostFri Jul 02, 2021 8:27 am

Hi all!

I am trying to export a deliverable in UHD and am getting an "Are you sure you want to export.... lower resolution..." alert, when in fact, it (the timeline) is not lower resolution.

The footage is shot with a BMPCC6K, at 6K, imported into project, edited in a 1080p timeline (due to the performance constraints). After finishing my work, I went into project settings and under Master settings I switched to UHD from 1080p.

This is my usual workflow and it works almost always. Why might I be seing this alert?

If it matters, I am on Davinci 17, Win decently speced machine.

Thanks! :)

UPDATE:

So.. it seems that I have been a bit, ehm, daft. I checked my timeline settings in the inspector (in the Media pool) and my timeline is indeed 1080p. It seems that changing the project Master settings only effects NEW timelines from that point onwards.

Surely, I am not stuck with 1080p and I can somehow get to the source footage quality when exporting, without creating a completely new edit? :(

You change the timeline resolution.
Get the menu (right click or the mac equivalent) on the timeline, Timeline -> timeline settings -> untick use project settings -> change to UHD.
