Installing Davinci Resolve CentOS 7.3 OS on UEFI only MB

PostFri Jul 09, 2021 4:23 am

Hello,

I have an issue with installing DaVinci Resolve OS on newer motherboard.

On older motherboards, where there is BIOS Legacy Compatibility mode, I have no issues with booting installer and installing said OS,

However on newer motherboards installer appears to be not bootable.

I am attempting to use DaVinci-Resolve-Linux-CentOS_7.3.iso downloaded from BlackMagic, on X570 Arous Master motherboard. My intent is to use this OS to avoid all of compatibility issues involving OS vs Davinci Resolve Studio (certain features, particularly those related to panels, seem to be problematic under Debian)

Do you guys have any known workarounds?

Kind regards

Note: Windows 10 installer as well as some other Linux distros, seem to boot normally on this MB. I bet there is a way to tweak CentOS 7.3 installer in such a way, that it will boot in UEFI mode.

Our ISO will not install on a system with graphics on the motherboard that cannot be disabled.

Our ISO only works with an NVIDIA GPU.

Our ISO is getting long in tooth, and has NVIDIA driver 430.40, which won't work with current NVIDIA cards and will cause the install to fail.

Our ISO only works from a DVD.

Because of the above, I strongly suggest you use the wonderful Seth Goldin CentOS / Resolve install process. He currently has a process for CentOS 7.9 and 8.3.
