I recently upgraded from Free to Studio and have not had any problems.
When you did the upgrade did you uninstall the free version first? Windows likes to mess up things if you just overwrite a program with a newer version. Is your GPU driver up to date?

Please refer to this FAQ. Specifically, your GPU drivers and VRAM may have an impact on decode capability, speeds and other ops. Please include this info as well in your post.

A few obvious things to check:
a. is your GPU processing mode (in preferences) set to CUDA?
b. is the GPU connected to the fastest PCIe slot on your computer?
c. are your displays connected to the GPU's output ports? (and not the motherboard's display outputs)
