I wanted to cut a little clip out of the movie I made, I opened the project, deleted the start of the movie and then thought to quickly save it first as a different project filename, so when I hit ctrl-s it would not overwrite the original timeline.
So I saved the project as a new project filename, then went to work cutting the clip. I then notest I cut out too much. So I closed the project and reopened the original, only to find out resolve some how overwritten the old version.
A bit of raging later I went to search for a solution, but as it seem, there is nothing like auto backup or something to retreive the movie. It's truely gone forever.
I'm typing this topic as I hope there is something I can still do. Also I want to know why davinci decided to overwrite my old version with me actively acting to prevent it. This is what I did:
1. Open project "version #1"
2. Select first 40 clip, then press delete.
3. Open file > Save as, and saved it as "version #2"
4. Watch a bit of the movie
5. Open file > Close current timeline (mistake)
6. Closed resolve
7. Opened resolve
8. Opened "version #1" to find out it has been overwritten.
I'm running Davinci Resolve Studio 17.2.
I already checked the backups page of the project but it is empty (project manager > right click project > Project Backups).
