BR Project Won't Open 17.2.2

ugh ! I exported "final" vers of a TL today to 4K prores, went fine.
quit R 17.2.2
realized I hadn't expoerted a h.264 ver, nor a 2K ver. ooops. restart R to do that. Game over.
Project reads to 100% and R beachballs. Its using 5-15% of the CPU. Let it sit for several minutes, nothing, force quit, no crash log.
Restart R again. Got project selection window. Selected project. 77% pause for a sec, 100% beacbball.;
Had to leave for job today. My recovery plan is to look for the backup db, try to open project out of that because its not really done, just this vers of project with 2 other different edits to do. This is the kind of !@#~! that had me run from PremPro for R as my FT editor. reliability is #1 next to stability. I want to assume the db isn't corrupted and this project will eventually open up again. one thing I failed to do was export XML of project before I quit. thats normally SOP when I finish a project or think I'm close, because, you know, double backup !

looking at the log file, last line is :

I had added BCC LensFlare 3D to a clip with a simple. bit of animation. that seems to be my guess as to the problem, but if I can't open the project I can't fix it.

also FWIW, my audio mixer controller loads the track names into the scribble strips. this is insane 2 weeks of work is about to go away. hope I can find the back up db

UPDATE : I uninstalled BCC14 and project opened complaining about missing plugin. off to file BR with them.
