Frightening problem: braw files are on ssd, cannot play back

PostWed Jul 28, 2021 3:07 pm

Hey folks, we have a weird problem. A t5 ssd which a Pocket 4k camera was recording to has all the files with appropriate sizes. It has the sidecar data from ‘good take’ tags. However my colleague who is reviewing the files just called me to say that none of the files play back on the braw player, Resolve or when reconnecting the ssd to the pocket. How do we go about troubleshooting this? He will wire me a file which I can share later, but I am really looking for some advice in the meantime! Any help is appreciated.

Hmmm.

My first step would be to copy the file from the SSD to an internal drive using some form of verification. (I use TeraCopy for this.)

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Thanks Jim!

It was on my colleagues end, because it plays fine here luckily. I did not consider this too heavily because he tried on two computers. I suspect this is because my Pocket is on the latest firmware and his software was not, meaning it could not recognize the gen 5 pocket color space.
