Back to the Rec 709-A Gamma/Color Shift

PostSun Aug 01, 2021 2:56 pm

I recently was relieved of the well-known gamma and color shift experience with the advent of the Rec 709-A option but something must have changed unknowingly to me and I can't quite see where it went wrong. Hopefully someone can help me out with this. You can see the difference in the various viewers below, along with my Project Settings and Deliver settings. I uploaded this to Vimeo and it matches what is in the VLC player window. All I'm after here is getting everything to match what I'm seeing in resolve. Thanks in advance you wizards!

I appreciate that! Unfortunately, I'm getting the same result. Might you have other suggestions?

I've managed to get the gamma to match a little better using the settings below. However, only viewing in VLC. And, there's still an apparent green cast to the output file.

do you have "use Mac display color profiles for viewers" checked in the general system settings?

if you render out bars from resolve, then run it back in using your workflow - do the scopes shift between the generated bars and the rendered bars?
Mac Pro 7,1 | 3.2Ghz 16 Core | 192GB RAM | Radeon Pro Vega II Duo 32GB, Radeon VII 16GB | Ultrastudio 4K Mini
OSX 10.15.7 | Resolve Studio 17.2.2 | Desktop Video 12.1

I have "mac display" off. I tested with it on and got a very dark picture that didnt match the output of my Decklink or any render attempts, so kept it off for the scopes test.

Rendered out bars and re-imported. There seems to be a slight difference in the original vs the import but Im not sure what to make of it...
