Resolve 16.1.2 won't open any more (Mac)

Resolve 16.1.2 won't open any more (Mac)

I am new to Resolve. 16.1.2 was working fine in my 2019 iMac with Mojave OS. Was opening and working perfectly. No changes were made to anything, but starting yesterday it will no longer open. When I try to open it the initial window appears indicating that it is "loading" various parts of the program. Then the word "ready" appears. Then that window disappears and nothing else happens. Blank.

I would be grateful for any help with this. I was starting to get the hang of the program and looking forward to continuing!! thank you, Pete

just to add, in case it's a clue: in finder, the uninstaller button now has a red circle covering it ("do not enter" symbol). also, I do not have any work in Resolve that I'm worried about saving at this point, so if I did need to uninstall/reinstall that would be ok. thanks, Pete

No, an iGPU is not enough, and you can't use HEVC 10 bit 4:2:2 in the free version.

Studio 18.6.5, MacOS 13.6.5
MacBook M1 Pro, 16 GPU cores, 32 GB RAM and iPhone 15 Pro

thanks for your reply. this is the hardware:

2019 iMac 27" retina 5k
3.7 GHz intel core i5
Radeon Pro 580x 8GB
32 GB memory
500 GB flash drive (400 GB available)
source files are on hard drives in external docks

Assuming you are not running the App Store version of Resolve:

Open Finder and navigate to /Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve and then run CaptureLogs.

Send us the file it produces on your Desktop.

Is there any particular reason you are using 16.1.2?

Hopefully not. Download and install 16.2.8 from the BMD Support site:

If that still has issues, send another log.

It sure looks like Resolve IS getting to the Project Manager page and a new project is being started. In all the logs. I can't explain why I see that, if it's crashing before getting to the Project Manager page.

At any rate, whatever the issue is, hopefully 16.2.8 will work better.

and just one more question:

the Uninstall Resolve button still has a red circle pasted over it in finder (the "do not enter" symbol).
I don't want to uninstall the program, but just curious what this might mean.

That's normal.

I think that's there because it's Read Only for the Everyone group.
