360 /VR forum?

PostSat Nov 27, 2021 3:31 pm

I only work with 360 footage, for VR. It's hard to get tips here for 360 workflows and I can never be sure if things I read about filters etc will work the same or be as useful/meaningful etc in 360 clips as for standard layout. Is it possible to have on here in BMD for Resolve Studio, so allow this type of creator to find the info s/he needs?
And if that's not going to happen, where are people going for this info? e.g. I've yet to find a single meaningful guide on using the Spherical Stabilizer --in detail--, which is possibly the most basic VR tool of all.

We can't even get a dedicated bug report forum, so I wouldn't hold your breath.

For Fusion questions there's also the We Suck Less forums, which has many Fusion professionals and experts who don't post here.

That's also the home of the Karta VR toolset, available for free via the Reactor plugin manager.

Hey man,
Thanks - you know, I've heard about the Reactor thing and Karta VR before, just I'm hoping to actually learn enough to understand how all that works - catch-22-like thing heh. Like right now I don't know whether I need Karta VR, or 3D workspace in Fusion, or whether I just keep working in 2D frame and hope it all works out anyway heh..
Will check that out... cheers :)

I am hoping for the same. My questions related to my 360 workflow always go down to the bottom without anyone answering them.

It would be great to have a place to share good practices and videos in order to get inspired by others.

Outside of BMD's own forums there are several places that discuss the use of Resolve/Fusion for 360VR more actively.

The Steakunderwater "WSL" forum is great. The level of knowledge on this site is especially wonderful for technically savvy compositors who like to customize their copy of Resolve/Fusion with macros, scripts, and fuses. WSL has already been mentioned by TheBloke, too. :)

The most popular VR focused forum where Resolve and VR is talked about is the following Facebook group that has 2900 members:

DaVinci Resolve 360° Video Editors
https://www.facebook.com/groups/841102949591263

A lot of video production and post related talk about 360VR occurs on the "360 Video Professionals" forum. Note Resolve + Fusion are mentioned in this user group from time-to-time but it also covers a broad range of other topics including VR camera hardware, and larger "cinema cameras" that are adapted for VR use like Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 12K camera body with an Entaniya HAL250 lens.
