Hello Team!

Hi Dwaine, please I need your help.
I have been using the free version 17.3.2 and everything was going perfectly, then I have updated to the Studio 17.3.2 version, and everything works perfect, but now I update to the new Studio17.4 version, and now I have a problem that DVR does not start .
I have tried to solve it by following step by step everything you explain in this forum, but there is no way to get the DVR to start.
I attach the Logs folders

Intel Core i7-8750H CPU
RAM 8,00 GB (7,85 usable)
Sistem 64 bits.
NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX1050
Windows 10 Home
Versión 21H1

I have the Logs.

THANKS A LOT.

Your link requires access credentials. Please make it an open link.

Also, we need a Windows System Information .NFO file along with the Resolve log.

Open the Windows System Information app, and select the File - Save menu to generate the .NFO file.

Howdy-

It appears as if my internal GPU driver might be interfering with Resolve 17.4.2Build9...

Everything was working until I updated the NVIDIA GPU and Intel 630 drivers, then Resolve stopped opening. Any ideas on how to fix?

Thanks. -Alain

PS - In the middle of editing a client project, so somewhat urgent :(

PPS (Monday) - I reverted back to the previous Intel 630 driver, and Resolve is working at this time.

What do you need, if not MSINFO? This it?

I view this as a temporary fix and would like to find a permanent one.

If reverting the Intel driver fixed it, not sure what else to suggest.

I will comment that laptop DisplayLink USB adapters have caused Resolve issues in the past.

I am also having similar issues with my program not starting at all.

The problems started right after I began using the Studio version of Davinci Resolve. I have been using the free version for the last 3 months or so and really enjoyed it so I invested in the studio version since this newest project I am working on had a much larger resolution than I had worked with in the past. Everything was fine organizing the footage until I began making proxies and then the program crashed. I clicked on the program again and it didn't open.

I have tried to download different versions of Resolve including the older version and the free version again and nothing opens.

I'll look into those as well!

My issue is - am I now forever more stuck to THIS particular version of the Intel driver?!

For me, Resolve 17 won't start at all. It's so frustrating. When I try opening it, the loading window pops up and then disappears. It shows up in the Task Manager but in seconds, it just disappears from the task manager and nothing happens. I heard something about sending a zip file to help you guys find out what exactly the problem is. I'm new to these forums, sorry if I don't know the way

In a File Explorer window, go to:

C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve

and run CaptureLogs

This will place a Resolve log file named similar to this on your Windows desktop: DaVinci-Resolve-logs-20181228_140434.zip (You may not see the .zip extension if your system is set to hide known extensions).

Then open Windows System Information and do a File - Save (Not a File Export), which will generate a .NFO file.

Place both those files on a file sharing site and provide links to the files here.

If you are a new Forum user, you may not be allowed to post URLs. If this happens, just put a space near the front of the URL, so the system doesn't think it's a URL.

I'm very new to this. I've got the log file down but I don't know how to convert it or send it here. I have it saved on google drive but I feel like I'm missing something... take a look.

You got the Resolve log file fine. Now we need the .NFO file.

Open the Windows System Information app and do a File - Save (Not a File Export), which will generate a .NFO file.

But my guess is that you Intel integrated GPU driver is not current enough.

Uninstall the Citrix Indirect Display Adapter.

Update the NVIDIA driver to the current 472,47 STUDIO version. When you run the driver installer, select the Custom install option and select the Clean Install option.

If you still have issues after that, send another Resolve log and .NFO file.

OK! WE'RE ONTO SOMETHING! :D

So I opened davinci and it actually loaded. But the problem is that one driver. I don't know where to find that updated one and I've even gone onto the website. It says I need the latest version of Java. I have that. It's weird... Can you link the download to the driver if that's possible?

Thanks

Go to the NVIDIA Driver Download site:

https://www.nvidia.com/download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

Enter your info and it will give you a link to the current driver.

When you run the driver installer, select the Custom install option, and then select Clean Install.

I downloaded the driver. It's here on my computer and I went through the installer with the steps you said. I keep trying to load davinci and this "update configuration" option pops up with a menu. What do I do from here?

That update message should open the Resolve Preferences app. Select System - Memory and GPU, and make sure the Auto checkboxes are ticked in the GPU Configuration area. Then save the prefs and restart Resolve.

If that doesn't help, send another Resolve log file and Windows System Information .NFO file.

Right click on your Windows desktop, and select NVIDIA Control Panel.

desktop_right_click2.png
desktop_right_click2.png (13.06 KiB) Viewed 4189 times

In the NVIDIA Control Panel app, select Manage 3D Settings

Then select the Program Settings tab.

Click the "Select a program to customize:" button.

Select Blackmagic Design - DaVinci Resolve (DaVinci Resolve)

If DaVinci Resolve is not already in the list of programs, select the "Add" button and Browse to C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve and select Resolve.exe (you might not see the .exe if you have known extensions hidden).

Once you have DaVinci Resolve selected in "Select a program to customize:", in the "2. Select the preferred graphics processor for this program" section, select "High-performance NVIDIA processor".

Should look like this:

Once that's selected, click Apply.

Now see if Resolve launches OK.

IT FINALLY OPENED!!!

But big problem... I still have my projects saved on my computer but when I come to the projects menu, they're all gone...

Is there a way to get them all back or find backups? I'm getting kinda nervous here about if I'm never gonna see them again... ;-;

The oldest log on the system is from today. Did you do some sort of clean install, or rebuild your system drive?

Looks like the AMD driver is not adequate. But I need a Windows System Information .NFO file to speculate further. Open the Windows System Information app and select File - Save to make the .NFO file.

Same problem here...Resolve was working fine, then it wasn't. I was hoping the problem would go away once upgrading to Win 11, but no dice. Windows is updated to current, as is the NVIDIA Studio Driver...

@Darren: Is it really true that the last time you ran Resolve on this system, was December of 2019, with Resolve 16.1.1?

Using the Windows control panel Programs and Features, right click DaVinci Resolve and select Uninstall.

After 17.4.2 is uninstalled, download and install Resolve 17.3.2

Does that work?

That's the last time that it ran successfully, but not the last time I've tried to use it (this is my field machine and I don't use it that often). I've installed and reinstalled both Studio and free versions of Resolve, but it has never opened. I'll try again.

@Dwaine I uninstalled and then installed 17.4.2, with the same issue. App won't start at all. I thought it might be a permissions problem, so I ran everything as administrator and turned off controlled folder access in Security, but it still wouldn't run.

I then uninstalled and rolled back to 17.3.2 but everything was the same. Still won't run.

I ran the Windows compatibility troubleshooter, which switched compatibility of Resolve to "Windows 8" mode, but still had the same problem. I also got a notice that Resolve is "not compatible" with no further explanation. I've included a screen shot of that.

Just FYI, this was happening in Windows 10 as well as now in Windows 11.

What do you think the problem might be?

Best,

Darren

UPDATE: I rolled all the way back to 16.2.8 but I'm still having the same problem.

@Dwaine -- I already tried 17.4.3, and had the same problem. I also tried turning off accelerated GPU scheduling, and messing with the NVIDIA 3D settings, but there was no effect.

Anyone else in this thread that still has startup issues, and has an Intel GPU in the system, please try 17.4.3.

@Dwaine - I just did a clean install of 17.4.3 and got new logs and NFO file for you. All drivers and Windows updates confirmed as current as well. WeTransfer link to download the files is below...

@Dwaine - Here is another, possibly related, issue that has popped up with Photoshop recently (see attached screen shot)

I'm curious as to why Photoshop seems to be requiring OpenCL and saying that it's unavailable, which makes sense since this is an NVIDIA machine. Could the Resolve issue be related to this?

Both the Intel iGPU and the NVIDIA GPU support OpenCL normally. But in fact, Resolve is also crashing because of an OpenCL issue. So Resolve and Photoshop both agree that something is wrong in the OpenCL area.

Here's my best suggestion for solving the OpenCL issue. Since we don't know if it's the Intel iGPU or the NVIDIA install causing the issue, I'd suggest using DDU to uninstall BOTH drivers, then do fresh installs of both.

This link describes using DDU to uninstall the Intel driver:

You could try just doing that as the first step and see if that solves the issue. If so, good. If not, use the same process to remove the NVIDIA driver. Then download and do a clean install of the current NVIDIA Studio driver from the NVIDIA Driver Downloads site.

Try uploading your files to WeTransfer (it's free) and then post the links to the files in your reply; that's what I do.

Or DropBox, Google Drive etc.
No, an iGPU is not enough, and you can't use HEVC 10 bit 4:2:2 in the free version.

@Giampiero: For whatever reason, your config files have become corrupt.

Open File Explorer and go to this folder:

C:\Users\domen\AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Preferences

Delete the config.dat and the .config.data files.

Then Resolve should start. Note that any settings you had in Resolve Preferences will be reverted to factory defaults. So if you had changed anything in Preferences, you'll need to set the preferences up as desired again and save them.

Note that the path above is a "hidden" path. To see it, in File Explorer, select the View menu, then Options. In the Folder Options window, select the View tab.

In the Hidden Files and Folders area, select "Show hidden files, folders and drives".

Also uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types".

@Ruben: 2 things:

Try Resolve 17.4.3.

If that doesn't help, UNINSTALL the Citrix Indirect Display Adpater.

If neither of those help, send a new Resolve log and NFO after doing both those things.
