How to customize Fusion keyboard shortcuts

PostFri Oct 30, 2020 8:40 am

I'm a bit confused right now. I noticed that tons of people use keyboard shortcuts in Fusion.
But when I go to Davinci Resolve->Keyboard Customization->Fusion, I see almost no keyboard shortcuts there.

So where do people get their Fusion keyboard shortcuts from?

And how do I customize Fusion keyboard shortcuts?

The better approach may be to search for the shortcut you want to set/change.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

But there doesn't seem to be any way to search for the keyboard shortcuts of Fusion. If you open up the "Fusion" tab in the keyboard shortcut customization window, there is almost nothing.
Take the shortcut "s" for smoothing out animations, for example. It's not there.

It doesn't change anything. As I said before, there are almost no Fusion keyboard shortcuts in the Keyboard customization window, no matter where you look. They just aren't there.

Like I said, search for the shortcut you want to set/change. One at a time. Don't go looking for them as a group.

The organization is..less than perfect.

So you are saying that there are Fusion shortcuts outside of the Fusion menu in the keyboard customization window. Where would that be?

Also, "s", for example, is the keyboard shortcut for smoothing out animations in Fusion.
Search for "s" in the keyboard customization window. You won't find "smoothing out animation".

So you're wrong in your belief that those shortcuts exist within the keyboard shortcut customization panel. They don't. The Fusion shortcuts can't be accessed via the keyboard shortcuts customization window, so they aren't customizable.

I think Fusion shortcuts were just ported over from the old stand alone version and are not customizable. I would try downloading the reference manual for Fusion 9 and see if they are listed there.

I know. If any developers read this:
Please make the Fusion keyboard shortcuts customizable!

From original post:

The posts at the end of the below topic have links to a list of shortcuts.
I have not seen anything saying they are editable.

UP!
Yes! There should be a way to customize every shortcut in fusion.
Sitting here at version 17.4.2 and there is nearly nothing.
Try something simple like deleting a single node. You can't customize a shortcut for that.

This is correct. Fusion Studio has a full Hotkeys Menu for customising keystrokes but this has not been implemented in Resolve. My guess is that BMD have not yet fully integrated Fusion into Resolve so there may be changes in this area in the future.

The current set of default Fusion Hotkeys is the same in Resolve but not editable.

I've set up some custom keyboard shortcuts in Resolve:

F6 - Enable Video Clean Feed on a specific monitor
Ctrl+F6 - Turn off Video Clean Feed
F7 - Toggle Dual Screen mode

These work fine in other parts of Resolve, but not when I'm on the Fusion page. Is this expected behaviour? I can't find any mention in the Keyboard Customization section of the DVR manual about these not working on the Fusion page.

Hi

I haven't posted in a while as I keep getting Mr Angry replying, so please be gentle.

There is a Fusion Hotkey manager which is either available in Reactor or you can type in app:CustomizeHotkeys() into the console. I'm currently having issues with the persistence so hardcoded them into a .fu file and placed them in the user config folder. This is what I currently have.

Code: Select all
{
   Hotkeys
   {
      Target = "FlowView",

         OEM_PERIOD = "AddTool{id = 'PipeRouter'}",
        B = "AddTool{ id = 'Background' }",
      C = "AddTool{ id = 'ColorCorrector' }",
      D = "obj:Composite():DisableSelectedTools()",
        F = "AddTool{ id = 'FastNoise' }",
      M = "AddTool{ id = 'Merge' }",
      P = "AddTool{ id = 'Paint' }",
      T = "AddTool{ id = 'Text' }",
      R = "AddTool{ id = 'Loader' }",
      W = "AddTool{ id = 'Saver' }",
      --   control Key + Key
      CONTROL_B = "AddTool{ id = 'Blur' }",
      -- shift key + key
      SHIFT_B = "AddTool{ id = 'BrightnessContrast' }",

      TAB = "Comp_Choose_Tool",

   },
}

Hope that helps.

Option to change shortcut in Fusion [BUG]

PostTue Nov 15, 2022 1:12 pm

I have the option for Fusion Page in Keyboard Customization in Davinci 18.1, but when I change shortcut for example for disabling node, it does nothing.
The function of the old shortcut remains and the new shortcut does nothing.
