DR 17.4.3 Prices

PostMon Jan 03, 2022 4:54 am

Is DR 17.4.3 Studio, full paid studio version, available as software only, without the included Speed Editor? I already have the full-sized Editor Keyboard and I don't think that I will need the Speed Editor Keyboard, as well.

Depending on location DaVinci Resolve Studio may be purchased from the Blackmagic site:

Alternatively, DaVinci Resolve Studio may be purchased from a reseller.
Activation card = #DV/RESSTUD

That was the original Speed Editor bundle, introduced in Oct/Nov 2020 and discontinued 2-3 months ago. The price of $295 is the same as buying Resolve on its own, without Speed Editor. And the new price of the SE (with free Resolve license) is $395.

So if you know of someone still selling Resolve + SE for $295, you should grab it. You're paying the same price for Resolve but also getting a free SE. You could then sell the SE, or just stick on a shelf in case you someday need it.

But I wouldn't be at all surprised if you find that any such bundle is actually out of stock, given it's been discontinued for a while now.

Hey Paul
When and where did you purchase your DaVinci Resolve Editor Keyboard? In late October, Blackmagic dropped the pricing on the keyboard from $995 to $595, with the new price also including a full copy of Davinci Resolve Studio.

It may be that you were sold old stock, if so, you may have grounds for returning it. Bear in mind also that if you still intend to purchase any other BMD panels eg DaVinci Resolve Mini Panel, then that purchase will/should also include a full copy of Davinci Resolve Studio.
Cheers
Andy
Let's have a return to the glory days, when press releases for new versions included text like "...with over 300 new features and improvements that professional editors and colorists have asked for."

If you buy the software at $295 they give you the editor as a gift. If you don't need it maybe try selling it.

I'm actually leaning to ordering the full keyboard now that the price has dropped. That keyboard comes with a license which I won't need but I'd rather have an extra license than not enough

Strange. I ordered the Editing Keyboard with the included license and I actually forgot about the license. Thanks. I am moving too fast and making too many purchases. I am all ready to put it together.

Andy, Bloke and Renaud...

Thanks. I got mine from Amazon. I enjoy using them because they donate a portion of my purchase price back to The Animal Assistance League of Orange County, which helps the 150 cats and dogs that they rescue, shelter, adopt and house. It included DR Studio for $895.00. I'm good with it. I also picked up the Micro Panel.

I will also need to get involved with Fairlight Desktop Console or the Fairlight Audio Editor. However, I don't know fully what they can do for me, so I will wait until I have some time and a clear head to set up my needs. I will be doing multi-track location and field documentary recordings, effects, studio narration recordings, and production music soundtracks. I will not do my own, original or cover musical recordings. My soundtracks are the emotional tools that I use to sell my shows and their concepts, so they have to be clean and strong.

That whole advanced panel looks wonderful, but not at this time.
