Where is the snapshot button?

PostFri Jan 14, 2022 8:31 pm

I'm having trouble to find the camera symbol to take a snapshot. Where is it? Also, when selecting from the Color menu/Resolve Live all options including the snapshot command are greyed out.

Okay, now I know I have to go to the Color page to turn on Resolve Live, so the menu command should work but still no camera symbol in sight.

There is no camera icon. You can only grab stills on the color page. This places them into the Gallery.

Or you can have a full screen view and use a screen grab like this.

In the Color page, right click on the preview screen. You should then be able to click on "Grab Still". When you do this, the still should show in the Gallery. From there you can right click again and choose to export.

Thanks again then, Charles!

The manual says otherwise however. Maybe it's an old one.

The Snapshot and Freeze icons are probably only in Resolve Live. Not something I use.

Just trying to post a reply to see if it works now.

Yes it did. I don't seem to be able to post a screenshot but in the manual they have that camera icon.

One more edit: I can see that my reply is there now. It wasn't before. Something is wrong with the forum.

The Snapshot button is a Live Grade control. It's for taking a still of the current Live Grade.

Charles is talking about normal Resolve Still grabs.

If you are looking for the Live Grade Snapshot button, it will be there when you are in Live Grade mode:

I don't know enough yet to know the difference between them. It seems to be a great application but there are so many features that differ depending on which of the different modes at the bottom row you're in.

Live Grade is a special mode designed to pre-grade live while shooting on set. It requires compatible capture hardware to operate. The snapshot button only appears when this mode is active.
If you are not using the Live Grade feature you will need to learn about grabbing stills of your grade to a Stills Gallery, which is what Charles was assisting with.
