Asus ProArt PA32UCX-K for non-professional HDR

PostWed Jan 19, 2022 9:04 am

Ever since buying a new HDR capable TV, I've been toying with the idea of grading my content in HDR. I'm not a professional by any means and I essentially only make content for myself and my Youtube channel with about 100 subscribers (if even that).

I currently have a 2021 MacBook Pro 14" with a MiniLED display and while it's cool to use for experimentation with the HDR color viewer mode that's available on Mac, I feel like it lacks too much control and it can't really be calibrated. Besides, it's a rather small display.

So I'm looking into getting a Decklink Mini 4K and an Asus ProArt PA32UCX-K for a monitoring solution to use with my PC with a bit more control. I really want to target 1000 nits but I'm wondering if 1200 nits peak is enough for most content?

I've forgotten how that compares to the UC-G.
