PIP Placement in resolve 17.4.1

PostMon Nov 08, 2021 7:54 am

Hi All.

So, since I've installed the new release of Resolve, 2 Weeks back, I've run into a little problem.

When I open up the ISO file from my ATEM mini pro ISO I am now faced with my PIP(Picture In Picture) shots ALL being put into the center of my screen.... This is annoying to say the least as before this update they were all in the correct place.

Now all are in the center of my screen when I open up a project. It is ok when I have only a few minutes of having to correct positions but now coming to a full 2 hour editing session this is no longer a joke. Am I not seeing something that needs to be setup for 17.4.1? In all the others I was able to just open up and they would be in the correct places.

Any help would be appreciated.
Regards
Charles.

If you go back to 17.3 is the same project ok, or do you need to import again?

I have reported the behavior to the Support.
The answer is...
... this is currently to be expected in Resolve.
However, this has been passed across to our development team as a feature request.

Made an account to say that I was also surprised by this behavior. Will experiment if explicitly setting the X/Y for the PIPs will fix this - pretty sure it will.

Hi All,

Sorry, been a hectic week.
@Peter Chamberlain, I have not been able to go back to 17.3 as 17.4 has changed my data base and 17.3 can't read it anymore. Although, in 17.3 I did not have this issue. The PIP would be where it was during the recording process. Short answer, no, did not have this issue in 17.3, has just come up now as of 17.4.

@onlymee Thank you, as I not a massive issue if you only have 20 minutes of switching, but 2 hours....

Not so funny

Thank you for the input.

Much appreciated.
Regards
Charles

Would just like to know how this is a feature request when it is a hardware feature on a device made by them??

Doesn't make sense, but then again, I have a different mentality..

Thank you for trying to help out..

Still having the same issue.
Since I'm new to resolve, it's a bit of a hassle to correct it.
When moving the PIP, it wants to animate. A path is shown. I do not want that, just reposition it.
No matter if I start at the beginne of the clip it automatically starts to animate.

Anyone a suggestion?

A feature request, they must be joking? This is a bug!

It was working before, so if a new release breaks the feature, this is called a bug, not a feature.

They must realised that many of us are using the ATEM mini to capture multi-cameras, prior to edit our working in post-prod in DR.

Having to edit again all our live PIP integrations is a huge pain and effort!

How did you report the bug, under which title, so that we can report it the exact same way?

On version 17.1.1 build 9 and PIP is working correctly when imported from ATEM mini DRP file.

Unfortunately my problem is that the 17.1.1 is not optimized for the Apple M1, so hopefully it will be fixed in future releases!

I am sorry to say that I don't remember as I can not fond the mail I sent. But I can confirm that it used to work in earlier versions of DR.
