Glitches w Canon C70 4k60 Long GOP on Resolve 17.4

I have heard about this issue on the forum before but haven't seen a resolution yet. I started having this issue on my iMac Pro, but current have upgraded to an M1 Max chip and still seeing glitches. on timeline and export. Does anyone know of a work around?

This last one is a few frames past the glitch, you can see it's pulling from the next clip in the timeline:

Bumping this up to hopefully get a response.

I've seen this on MBP intel i7 OS12.1 with videos on web pages. looks to be an OS level bug since it affecting more than one app.

What codec are you exporting too? I would try Prores instead of h.264/5 if you haven't already.

I am having the same issues, I've tried exporting in different codecs and the export still has the glitch, the glitches happen on the timeline as well but when you create optimized media for the entire timeline the glitches on the timeline are gone but the glitches still happen on export. The ONLY workaround I found is if your select all the video clips on the timeline and right-click -> Render in place, this will render all the clips in the timeline in apple prores of your flavor choice then swap the clips out on your timeline with those renders, the glitching is gone on the timeline and on final export

My footage is Sony and the other users are reporting it is happening on iPhone and Cannon gear. I am also having strange timing glitches with DJI footage.

I think we need some BlackMagic eyes on this. There appears to be playback and rendering issues on M1 macs across various footage.

I'm having the same issue. MacBook Pro (2022, M1 Max chip, Mac OS 12.1 Monterey).

I mostly shoot in 24p, and I'm seeing it in that footage quite a bit.

Bumping this up. Can anyone from BM provide some insight? I called them and got the... we haven't heard of this happening answer.

Update:

Got this response from the support team.

At this time, try this:
1.
in Resolve▸Preferences…▸System▸Decode Options disable the hardware acceleration of h.264/h.265, save, restart the application.

2.
Upon the restart, open the project and perform the Playback▸Delete Render Cache▸All

3.
in Resolve▸Preferences…▸User▸Playback Settings, set the mode to disabled.


This work, but limits the horsepower of the laptop. So I'm thinking for the time being I'll change these settings just before doing an export of the project. Hope this helps, and looking forward to some type of update to DR.

Might be up to Apple. Early versions of Monterey couldn't even handle their own ProRes codec in all flavours!
Did you try under Monterey 12.2?

Tried 12.2 and the same thing happens.

prores should also not resolved by 12.3 beta

also possible that apple has changed prores and now all
hardware and software manufacturers would have to improve?

or apple has responded even non-licensed manufacturers and do some changes?
