Unwanted 2 seconds of silence added to bounced clips

PostWed Jan 19, 2022 3:45 pm

When I bounce audio clips to RX 7 Audio Editor, Resolve adds 2 seconds of silence to the end, thus extending it's duration for some reason. After processing by Izotope as expected it replaces the audio clip on the timeline. The original is now on a track layer beneath it.

(View > Show Audio Track Layers).

Wondering if this extra duration added by Resolve 17.4.3 is normal?

Inside RX9 (in my case) I see that Resolve has assigned an extra 2 seconds to the end of the clip. Maybe that just gives RX a margin of error in processing the file but I agree that it's a bit odd (although obviously it doesn't hurt).

Thanks for the confirmation Steve. Yesterday while reworking a 2 year old project I realized it was happening back then. Two seconds added to each bounced clip.

However in addition, something must have changed in the way Resolve deals with clips cleaned up using the RX7 plugins because in Resolve 17.4.3 such clips in older projects no longer play without a delay. Therefore the timeline runs in fits and starts. This obviously did not occur when I made the project back then so at some point last year I just gave up on using the plugins and have used the bounce method ever since.

Resolve includes a two second handle with bounced Clips.

Clip boundaries need to be manually extended to reveal handles as the processed Clip duration otherwise matches the source Clip on the Timeline.
