*Resolve 17.4.3 Ubuntu Bug* Audio kills program

PostTue Jan 25, 2022 6:55 am

Finally upgraded to 17.4.3 and was pretty happy until I went to switch the audio preferences from system audio over to desktop audio.

Resolve will not open now. Downgraded back to 17.2.2 and all is good on there.

Weird.

I know I’m probably in the minority here but is anyone running Ubuntu seeing this issue?

I do run DVR paid Studio on Ubuntu but can you please explain your issue in detail? I'll try to reproduce it and tell you my own observations. Regards, Andreas

And as part of that explanation, provide your Ubuntu version.

Apologies. Let me go more into detail.

My current system specs are:

Intel Xeon (R) W-10885M CPU@2.40GHzx16
NVIDA Quadro RTX 5000 mobile/Max-Q
Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS
125.4 GiB
UltaStudio 4K Mini

Now let me expalin the issue alittle more clear. After installing 17.4.3 everything seems to open just fine. However, I notice that by default the audio is coming from the computer speakers rather than the TV. So I go ahead and jump into the DaVinci Resolve Upper Left Drop Down>Preferences> Video and Audio I/O>

I apologize if i'm mistaken with the terms because i rolled back to the previous version but I believe by default the audio is set to play from the computer speakers. I went ahead and changed that to Desktop Video. When i restart the program it gets to the splash screen and disappears and i can never open resolve after that. Only way i was able to get back into my projects was to downgrade.

So actually it crashes fatally at startup. What you need to do is to collect and examine the DaVinci error log, it should contain the info about what caused the crash. And (in case there are no obvious mistakes in your setup, the older version works so I guess there aren't any) submit the bug report to developers. The procedure of collecting the logs and reporting bugs is detailed somewhere here around, I think it's in the FAQ list. Regards, Andreas

I'm on Resolve 17.4.3, Ubuntu 21.10 and Desktop Video 12.2.2. All works well.

Are you using the latest version of Desktop Video? You could remove the UltaStudio card and see if Resolve opens.

Finally got this fixed. Realized I've been using a incredibly old and dated version of "makeresolvedeb". Believe i was using version 1.4.4. Decided to give the newest version a shot which i believe is 1.5.1 and everything works beautifully. Hoorah!!!!
