Afternoon peoples. Having an issue with my rendering. Have been A / B'ing Resolve/Premiere for a couple of days and for the life of me I cannot get Resolve to render with better quality than Premiere. Running the free version of Resolve. Just can't justify the $300 cost if the quality isn't where I need to be.
This is mainly for my Youtube Gaming stuff/channel. When A/B'ing both renders side by side on Youtube at as close to the same settings as possible Resolve just has a slightly washed-out look. My original settings were as below:
Source:
OBS:
Encoder @ H265 (AMD AMF)
Output @ 1920 x 1080
Preset @ Quality
Rate Control Method @ CQP 10 (I- Frame and P-Frame)
Keyframe @ 2.0
Most output files are in the 200-250 Mbps file range. And look amazing. Might be overkill but my system can handle it.
Resolve:
Export Video:
Quicktime
H.265
Custom @ 2560 x 1440 (for youtube vp09 codec)
60 fps
Restrict @ 90Mbps-120Mbps
Advanced: (Only Changes)
Force Resizing to highest quality
Force debayer to highest quality
When using Quicktime @ H.265 file output bitrates are really small. They were larger before I can swear. Now, this is game stuff. Say Borderlands 2, a game with a lot of motion, particle effects etc prerender will be average 225Mbps - 250Mpbs average bitrate, post-render in Quicktime @ H.265 will only be like 20-25Mbps bitrate. Even with the upscale to 1440 for vp09 being applied to 1080p it just looks washed compared to Adobe Premiere. So not sure if it's a color range issue. or something else.
So at the moment not sure, I'm feeding Resolve a ton of data. With Quicktime / H.265 renders seem to be way too small and bitrate is being just killed. Then further killed by Youtube compression. Using mp4 bitrate sizes are an average 90Mbps-95Mbps. So that's where I'm at. Now most people watching might not notice it but I do and it just irks me.
If It's not clear feel free to ask. Other than that. Any ideas?
