mts files without transcoding ?

PostSat May 21, 2022 2:51 pm

Hello,

I tried to import some mts files (stereoscopic videos) from my Panasonic cam.
I cannot see both video tracks, I cannot render any stereo video.

I've installed back Vegas Pro 13 (quite old). It does work under Windows11 (a good surprise)
I did import the mts files, set my project to stereo, rendered an anaglyph video.
That was super easy.

Can I work with my MTS files without transcoding first ? (using latest Resolve studio) ?
Thank you in advance for your help !

MTS is typically used for delivery. Not sure you can make those work in Resolve without transcoding.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Some .mts files are readable, others apparently aren't. Also note that free Resolve won't play the AC-3 audio.

You could try rewrapping them in something like Shutter Encoder.

Thank you for your answers.

I do use the studio version (no problem with ac3 audio)
I do not want to remux (transcode).

I'll keep using my old Vegas Pro 13 for editing these videos, as it is really very simple :
- no need to transcode
- easy workflow

I know Blackmagic Resolve(Studio) is much better than Vegas Pro 13, but in that case, it is not so good.

Those are actually two different processes.

Transcoding will decode the compressed image and re-comrpess it.

Remux takes the original data and puts it into a new container unaltered.
