If I remember correctly Resolve (older versions?) require at least 1GB VRAM on the GPU. If you already own the system I would just test it out. I'm pretty sure later versions won't work great. I'm on MacOS Mojave 10.14.6 and Resolve 17 works but the menu bar is totally glitched. My macbook has a GT750M 2GB and is from 2013. I can't update the nVidia cuda drivers anymore maybe that's also related. Dunno how smooth it will go with AMD cards.

In general if it would work, don't expect great performance unless you are working with 1080p ProRes material and don't do much colorgrading/fx.

It will be no joy, if it works at all. You could try an older version, like 15, and use a 1280x720 timeline.
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

Thanks guys~ Yes, older versions of the software sound like the solution. That works for me, as I'm obviously not riding the cutting edge here. Could anyone please instruct me as to where to find older versions?

The other challenge I anticipate is making the transition to node editing. Are basic intro tutorials for new comers available? I'm very comfortable on an old version of Hitfilm, but know nothing about node editing.

Thanks again.

I suggest upgrading if you want to use Resolve, but you don't have to spend a great deal. I have a 2017 top of the line iMac I bought a few years ago for less than $1K and it runs great even with 5-6 layers of multicam 4K. But it has 8GB GRam . That's important.

To make things clear: that's VRAM.
And, yes, that machine is running DR quite well, I used it before going M1. The screen is also really nice.
