Rendered Audio Sounds Different To Settings

PostSat May 28, 2022 12:27 pm

I have an issue with my audio levels in Davinci.
I am usually dealing with at least 3-5 audio timelines. Dialogue, music and sfx etc.
Once i have the levels set that sound right to my ear, I then rendered them.
The finished video, however can sound different. One audio level can seem now too loud or too soft.
Different to the levels I set that sounded right to my hear on playback before rendering.
i am wondering whether i have some setting that is not giving me the true 'sound' level in the timeline before rendering.

What program are you listening to the video in. It could be at a different level.
Inside the box? I didn't know about any box...

Usually i am just watching/listening to the rendered video on my laptop on VLC player. It's not the final finished general sound, but I can hear that suddenly the music is too loud or the dialogue is now too soft in the rendered mix.
The playback in davinci is different to the playback in other video player programs.

Using software to QC an export is generally not a good idea, as it can (and often does) alter things in some way. For a picture, it may alter the colors or brightness. For sound it may apply some kind of leveling or EQ.

Take the export to a properly set up stereo or home theater system and listen there.

Or at the very least, bring it back into the Resolve for a quick listen.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

yes take it back in resolve. Alot of things could change, especially with VLC player.
Also are you exporting mono or stereo? Make sure its stereo.
