You need to turn off the little red button under the viewer that is next to the eyedropper icon. This button turns the stacked view of clips into single clip view only. You also have no clips or timeline view active in the Color Page so you can't really see which clip is selected.

By default, the uppermost track under the Playhead is shown in the Color page. If you want a different track selected to work on, click on the Clips and Nodes button on the upper right.

I'm confused on how to coordinate what I see on the edit page with the color. If I'm on a clip in edit, and go to the color, that is not the one selected. It is the one in the viewer but not the one outlined in orange and changes don't affect. But all the clips look similar and don't show the clip names, so I can't just click on the right one.

This half works. I can see part of the name, which is the species, but they all share that and I can't see the numbers that are unique to each.

After you select a clip on the Color page, you can right-click it and select View Clip Details. Also, if you have the Timeline enabled on the Color page you can click on a clip and see its position on the timeline and get an idea of what clip it might be.

Helpful, what I needed. I wonder why the timeline starts with a 1. I would think it usually means an hour has passed but here it means you're in the 1st hour?

It's a hold-over from analog broadcast, where the program needed some time before the "beginning" for certain materials.

If you start the timeline at 0, then you can't have anything before.

If you don't need that, you can change it under Preferences>User>Editing.

What specific section of "Editing" is that setting in?
