Clear Existing Databases MacOS

PostFri Aug 12, 2022 12:37 am

Using Resolve v18, I am trying to connect to existing databases. But, DR tells me that the Project Name Already Exists.

Of course it does. I'm trying to connect to it!

Is there a cache that can be scrubbed or is this a bug?

When you click the Add Project Library button, it opens in the Create mode. It sounds like you are not selecting the Connect mode before entering the name to connect to.

I am selecting the Connect mode.

Seriously, This is FUBAR.

I just tried to connect another one of my existing libraries. It connected, but the Library was not actually visible in the list and was not persistent.

Trying to connect it a second time gives me the same error.

It seems like the Project Libraries are there, but not visible.

Seriously, I'm screwed unless this bug is fixed!

What platform are you on?

Are you trying to connect to Local or Remote Project Libraries?

He wrote it’s MacOS, Dwaine.
The software may be free, but the hardware needed for smooth performance is not.

So he did...

Send a Resolve diagnostics log file generated from the Help menu.

And is it a Local or Remote Project Library you are attempting to connect?

It’s a local library on a network volume on my server on the LAN

I’ll send the diagnostics file ASAP

Please PM me this file:

Open a Terminal window and cd to that path.

Then type this:

pwd

ls -al dblist.conf

Send a screen shot of that.

I am baffled. The log shows it's reading the dblist.conf file, and it's not finding the path for those 3 databases.

But that doesn't explain why they are not showing up in the Project Library list in your screen shot.

They absolutely should be in that list, since the log shows they are being read from the dblist.conf file.

The only reason they should not show up in that list, if if they were disconnected, and if that were the case, they'd be removed from the dblist.conf file.

I guess I would suggest you make a copy of the dblist.conf file:

cp dblist.conf dblist.conf.orig

And then remove all the database lines except the first Local line from the dblist.conf file.

Then see if it will let you connect to your existing databases, if you're sure they actually exist in the locations you think they exist in.

Thank you. It looks to me like the DR knows that they are there and simply does not display them.

The fact that I now know where the list is, is huge to me.

Following your advice may just get me out of this mess

I'll let you know
