Atmos export: Unsupported audio sample format

PostSat Aug 13, 2022 12:06 am

I'm trying to create an ADM BWF of a simple Atmos mix. Project sample rate 48000. Clips were imported as 44100, which should have upsampled to 48000, according to the docs. The export render error is: "Failed to create Dolby Atmos Master File: Unsupported audio sample format." The render settings are 48000/24.

"sample format" is strange. Shouldn't that be "sample rate"?

Running DR18, Mac Mini M1, 8GB, MacOS Monterey 12.5.

Any ideas?

Are you delivering an Immersive Master via the Fairlight menu?

I'm using menu: Fairlight->Immersive Audio->Export Master File. There are two choices for format: ADM BWF and IMF IAB. IMF IAB creates an MXF file. ADM BWF fails with the error above.

My real goal is to output a Binaural file that I can send to reviewers to evaluate on headphones.

So the Atmos Master will be used to subsequently produce an AC-4 Immersive Stereo (AC4-IMS) encode? Either Atmos Master format would suffice in that case.

I think I found the way to do what I'm after from Edgar Rothermich in a post on reddit:

"I[f] you just want to play it back to listen over headphones on any device, then set the Monitoring Format in Logic's Dolby Atmos Plugin to "Binaural" and use the standard Bounce command to create a 2-channel Binaural Audio signal of your Dolby Atmos Mix."

If this isn't true in DR18, please let me know.
