What has happened to the subtitles?

PostWed Sep 28, 2022 8:24 pm

I discovered a mistake in one of the subtitles and corrected it. Then all subtitles got some shadow or something, like this. To my knowledge I didn't do anything but retype the subtitle in question. Also, after making the correction the previously inserted text is not removed but remains in the background.

Changing this text from "And if you take a closer look you can see..."

to "If you then take a closer look you can see..." gives the following subtitle:

So, if you take a closer look you can see the "And if you" in both subtitles, as a "shadow" in the second one. It's as if I have two subtitles at the same location in every subtitle.

I used the format "Burn into video" when rendering. It shouldn't be possible for the subtitles to have been burnt into the video in the timeline as well, but if I disable the subtitle track I see the original ones without any shadows or duplicates.

I did get an option to name the item in the render queue differently since there was an existing one with the same name. To my knowledge that name points to the name of a previously rendered movie and has nothing to do with what is in the timeline.

Try deleting your render cache... it may be that Resolve is referencing a cache file that includes the subtitles in their previous state.
