VOB file format

PostSat Nov 26, 2022 4:20 pm

I am trying to upload a video in *.VOB format but can't. I also first tried to convert it to *.mp4 with VLC but that didn't work either. Anyone has a suggestion? Thank you.

Could it be protected?

You could try just changing the extension to mp4... sometimes works.

If it's not protected, a tool like ffmpeg or one of the GUIs for it like Shutter Encoder would help you to transcode.

VOB are multiplexed streams for DVD. The video stream should be MPEG-2, audio streams are likely AC3.

You can demux and wrap the audio and video to MP4 with FFMpeg, but it could get more complicate if there are multple angles and multiple audio streams:

Code: Select all
ffmpeg -i someFile.vob -c:v copy -c:a copy someFile.mp4
