Problems With Logitech C922 Files

PostSat Dec 03, 2022 3:41 am

The clips from my Logitech C922 Webcam don't want to play, or render in Davinci Resolve 18.
During playback there's a quick flash at different points where that part of the clip shows "Media Offline"
If I try to deliver as a finished clip it won't complete the task and says the Render Task didn't finish as the clip could not be processed.

Is there a way to upload a clip for you to see if you can help? When I try I get an error message that the upload cannot be verified.

Put it on a cloud share such as Google drive and post a link here. You may have to put a space in the URL if you are a new user. Hope that helps. Good luck.

Unfortunately neither Google Drive nor Dropbox recognize the files either. Odd, because the Windows 11 video player handles them OK.

ZIP it then.
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

Let's try this. Google Drive still says it's unsupported if one tries to open it but maybe the file can be downloaded?

use mediainfo to get details of file...

use shutter encoder to transcode to, say, dnxhd.

ok. just downloaded and plays fine...

It loads and plays fine here, both in QT Player and in DR. No idea why it won't work for you. But transcoding should help.
The quality is pretty bad for HD with 16 mbps, though.

I didn't have any lighting, etc. as all I was wanting was to get it to play in DR.

Interesting. Well, thanks, guys.
Perhaps it's just that my system isn't up to the task with these files. It seems to work fine when I capture by camera, cell phone, etc. just not with the Logitech C922 Pro.

I have a work around using Zoom, but...... LOL

If it isn't up to the task, it should still load the footage and be a bit jumpy when playing.

Thanks, Uli.
It's the "Media Offline" message that flashes, as if it's only a frame or so that's offline, that I'm not understanding.
As it seems to be working in DR for both you and Leslie I'm not sure what to do....
I'll keep researching. I really appreciate your and Leslie's time.

But other .mp4 clips are playing fine?

Is it perhaps a variable frame-rate causing the problem?

MediaInfo is showing it as constant.

It is probably the CODEC inside the .mp4 file. All codecs are not implemented exactly the same way. If you can recode it into ProRes on Mac or equivalent CODEC for Windows it should work as suggested by others. Changing hardware may not fix the problem.

Leslie, I just installed Shutter Encoder and ran a quick trial with it. The resulting file plays flawlessly. Thanks for the tip.
