Audio Glitches on Bounce and Export

PostFri Feb 11, 2022 1:35 am

Having a frustrating time finishing up a project due to audio 'clicks' appearing at random. These are showing up as tiny glitches, like a single frame of dropout or a few frames of distorted audio.

They are appearing in the wav files that are generated when Bounce Mix to Track is used. They are also appearing in exported prores4444 QuickTimes. In all cases, the glitch is not present on the timeline but will appear in the bounce or export. If the bounce or export is repeated, the glitch will not recur, but other glitches may appear elsewhere.

Any help appreciated.

Is your audio 48 kHz or 44.1 by chance?

My audio is mostly 48khz with some 44.1 also. Export set to 48.

Try to convert all 44.1 kHz audio to 48 kHz PCM files.

I appreciate the suggestion but this is not a practical solution for me. I have hundreds of audio files in this edit and converting them isn't an option.

(The software is supposed to support mixed sample rates.)

I’ve learnt over the years not to trust any software and to carefully test my project specific workflow.
Saved my behind in many cases. Sometimes I even had to resort to other software, in other cases I had the client sign pretty strict rules for the sources to deliver or they would have to pay the extra hours.

Hi louis,

Thanks for your message, we're having the exact same problem since months. At least I'm not alone. Very frustating. After countless tests including full reinstalls and calls to BM service, we simply have concluded that this must be a bug in Resolve.
Lowering "render speed" is the ony way to minimize these drop-outs but obviously it's not a solution. We have had occasional drop-outs even at render speed 10.

See here for other threads related to this problem.

Thanks for those other forum links, nucelar. Sadly, nothing definitive and seemingly the issue occurs even when all material is 48khz.

I'm on a 10 core M1 MBP with 16gb RAM and 16 graphics cores.

Same issue here!

My topic: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=144260

Thinking about it... Premiere does some audio processing before render vídeo. DaVinci does not. Could be this the reason of the trouble?

Thanks!

Also kind of a similar issue here.

The only way I could render without audio glitches, was decomposing all nested timelines.

I hope this already has been corrected in DR 18
Because of ongoing projects I can not upgrade at the moment.

Do you get the same kind of audio-errors as I do?
https://www.icloud.com/iclouddrive/071Z ... zw#Example
(you can hear it right at the start of the video)

If you know this bug, it is not that difficult to do the workaround. If you don't, it is a nightmare
(with having to finish a documentary, discover the glitches accidentally and then trying to correct it
with binch-listening the exports over and over again, as the glitches appear rarely and never at the same time).

I am getting this same problem, just with a small project. I too find I need to decompose the nested timelines to eliminate the possibility of glitchy video when rendering out. Using version 18. To produce a project, I need to have everything expanded onto one timeline.

I've seen other reports of audio issues with nesting timelines.

For now, using a single timeline is probably the best option.
