BRAW plays in RAW player but not in Resolve

PostMon Dec 05, 2022 11:05 am

I have over 1.44TB of RAW files recorded onto the Samsung T5 SSD from the Blackmagic 6K PRO.

Upon playing the files in Resolve the files flickers with Media offline on all the clips.

The strangers thing about this is that the footage plays fine in Blackmagic RAW player and also in camera.

I still have the files on the SSD, and back up up to my NAS.

All files regardless of the medium type (SSD or NAS) plays fine in RAW player.

What gives has I have a lot of important footage on here. My last option will be to SCREEN RECORD EVERY CLIP and loss the option of BRAW. which is going to suck really bad and going to be extremely time consuming to SCREEN RECORD IT CLIPS.

if only the 6K line have Dual card slot recording and not use the useless expensive CFast 2.0 card

I was also successful at playing the file on all 3 Systems i have using BM RAW player and the media offline flickering does not show up.

You may have dropped frames. The player doesn’t show them by just repeating the last good frame, but DR does. Try to step through your timeline and check if the ‘media offline’ is always on the same timecode.
If that is the case, your intended solution is indeed the way to save these clips.
Next time use approved media, high quality cables and more compression. But most importantly switch the camera to abort on dropped frames, so you know from the start if things go wrong.
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

unlike resolve, the player does not show the errors because they are compensated for in the player, which is of course not possible in an editing program where frame-accurate cutting is a prerequisite.

but that also means that there were dropouts during the recording and you probably had the warning for this turned off in the camera.

these errors are caused by many factors:
the SSD was not reformatted before recording.
the compression is too low for the type of media and the resolution is too high.
the USB-C cable used is not suitable for the data throughput, or is simply defective.
