About Davinci Resolve 18

PostWed Dec 07, 2022 3:45 pm

On the Support page for the Resolve 18 download, there is mentioned for the system demands :

Minimum system requirements for Windows
Windows 10 Creators Update.
16 GB of system memory. 32 GB when using Fusion
Blackmagic Design Desktop Video 10.4.1 or later
Integrated GPU or discrete GPU with at least 2 GB of VRAM
GPU which supports OpenCL 1.2 or CUDA 11
NVIDIA/AMD/Intel GPU Driver version – As required by your GPU

Looking for this Win "update" this should be for phones ?
Is this a fault or real ? and if so is this something to do or leave ?

"Windows 10 Creators Update" just means the minimum Windows version is Windows 10 1703, released in April 2017. (Microsoft has since changed their version designations, e.g. "Windows 11 22H2".)
DaVinci Resolve Studio, Alienware desktop with NVIDIA RTX 2080, 16" M2 Max MacBook Pro, ASUS PA32UCG.

It might mean "Windows version is Windows 10 1703, released in April 2017" but it doesn't say that. It says "Windows 10 Creators Update" This is just BMD being sloppy.

You only need the Desktop Video 10.4.1 if you have Blackmagic hardware such as a Decklink card. Windows 10 also has a 22H2 version which I am running.

Charles
THX, I now "allowed" Win to update to 22H2 and so far no problems.
I'm always relented with updates, the "big" step (going from Win 10 to Win 11 ), well I still have "cold feet".
I recently had to rebuild my system, by a fault of myself, and had to buy a new license of Win and I , maybe dumb, both Win 10 again.
So I'm reading every problem or complain before I make the jump.
Thx for the answer.
Edd
