Switching to Fairlight via Shift+7 not working on Edit page

PostFri Dec 09, 2022 6:05 pm

Switching workspace from the editpage to the fairlight audio page is not working at all. from the other pages it is working as it should. I had the problem with 17 and now with 18 its still not fixed! would be nice to have this shortcut as i switch often between edit and audio page.

Never had this problem with any version of Resolve and I cannot reproduce it. Have you tried a UI Reset in the Workspace menu?

This is a recurrent and known problem with 'Azerty' keyboard.

For the sake of the discussion, let's call English, 104, QWERTY keyboards 'standard'.

Maybe the issue is with any non-standard keyboard.

What does that mean, Peter? That even with a 'standard' keyboard, you still have issues?

Again, repeating what I posted earlier in that I don't see the problem here, and never have in all the versions of Resolve that I have used. Also I am using three monitors on my system.

In the Workspace dropdown menu does clicking on Switch to Page and then clicking on Shift+7 work?
Are your multiple monitors all plugged into the same GPU?

In the Keyboard Customization Panel is the Shift+7 key binding shown?

Have you tried remapping that function in Resolve to get around the German keyboard issue?

I can say that with DVR 17.4.2 I had quite often Resolve hanging when doing the SHIFT + 7 for Fairlight on my German system (2 screens). That was fixed with 17.4.6 but to me it seems that sometimes Resolve somehow loses GUI focus. For example:
In the timeline press ALT + Y to select all footage on all tracks to the right of the parser.
DVR shows all clips selected but when I move them, it will only move one clip.
I always have to press ALT + Y twice to really be able to move all clips.

Sometimes the SHIFT + Number for the pages does not work at the first pressing, it gets ignored. I have not found any logic behind it when it happens.
Saying "Thx for help!" is not a crime.

I am on a 17.4.6 with a German keyboard and 4 screens and can confirm what Robert wrote.
Sometimes it also hangs when switching to color page. Changed the shortcuts, didn't change anything. Switching via Workbench menu works fine in these cases.
Loosing the focus is much more anoying for me as it renders my streamdeck useless.

So, did some further tests on my Workstation laptop with DVR 18.6.4 and trying to use SHIFT + 7 on the edit page to jump to the fairlight page with my German keyboard does not work at all.
I even checked if the keyboard customization had an error but it says SHIFT + 7 has been assigned.
So I deleted that and re-assigned the shortcut, but alas no difference.

After that I installed the English keyboard support in Windows and toggled the layout to US English.
Immediately SHIFT + 7 does work.
Change layout back to German and no dice.

So apparently Resolve does something very quirky when reading keyboard inputs. Smells like a bug.

BTW - laptop is single monitor only.

Hm... very weird, indeed. As written above, I do only observe this behavior from time to time. My Windows language is set to English but my KB layout is German.
However, I re-asigned the Fairlight switch to Shift+F6 but for other reasons and this shouldn't make a difference.
