MXF files - Unable to display in timeline DR18.1.2 Build 6

PostMon Jan 30, 2023 8:58 pm

There are over 2000 posts on this topic but not sure I saw any resolution to if the free version of Resolve (18..) can open *.MXF file. In my case, it is only displaying the audio track. Any one knows if I am doing something wrong or in fact this is not available in the free version of DR without conversion. Does it work in the paid version? My footage from Camera - Sony FX9, SGamutCine/SLog3. TIA.

The format doesn't matter so much.

10 bit video is a limitation of the Free version.

If you can share a short clip, we can confirm it working in Studio or not.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

I have the PAID studio version 18.5 and my MXF comes in as audio only. MXF generated from camera is fine, but when using an MXF output form AVID, no dice. I have installed the current AVID codecs. Any ideas?

What codec are you packaging into your MXF files from Avid?

Do you mean DNx185?

Is it possible it's the 10 bit limitation on the free version?
