UHD/4K 60P Nikon NRAW - Transitions won't work

Hello guys,

Newbie here. I've watched the YouTube videos and tried all the trimming magic and it doesn't work.

I import 60p UHD 4K footage and transitions won't work.

Is this a limitation of the free version?

Just want to confirm before I invest in a Studio version.

Did you actually record UHD and set the timeline? Not too many people are going to use the Z9 in UHD 4K mode. You're better off using the oversampled HEVC 10 bit log.

Which transitions aren't working? All of them? Or one in particular.

Recorded in 4.1k, mostly a test run before running 8k. So really it’s not UHD but 4.1k
No transitions are working.

My thinking is that it’s the result of recording 4.1k and starting a project with that initial footage.

If I start a project with 4K 25p footage from my A7siii and drop the same NEV footage into that project, the transitions work.

I can't think if how the footage would make any difference here.

So long as you have handles, and you're not using a Studio feature, the transition should work.

Unless...maybe they need Caching?

The Free version won't export 4.1k. Max of UHD. That's a limitation but I don't think that shows up until you try exporting.

I thought it might be a source footage issue, but no.

I’m going to try NEV footage today with :

1. 5.3k DX NRAW
2. 3.8k DX NRAW
3. 3.8k FX ProRes RAW

See if there’s any difference.

I’ll be getting the studio version next financial year, so want to make sure I know what I can use before I make the jump.
