Timeline from DR 18 into 17?

PostThu Mar 23, 2023 9:12 pm

My colorist just informed me he uses 17 and I made a ton of effects and node-specific effects in my Resolve 18 timeline.

Is there any way around this?

*Note the "effects" are nothing special that was not included in 17 or a few versions back

The best option is for your colorist to upgrade.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

No, the internal Resolve database was changed quite a bit between 17 and 18, so you can't take a Resolve 18 session and go back to 17. Nor can you import DRX node corrections or DRT timelines. You can import XML edit lists, but those are fairly platform-agnostic.

The only alternative would be a XML for the edits and a rendered reference clip to see what you've done.
But that would cause a lot more work to him/her (which might be a strong argument).
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

You might have to change colorists.

If I told you the projects he's done, you'd rethink that.
