First Marker goes missing

PostThu Mar 23, 2023 10:16 pm

I'll often have the first marker of a timeline go missing. We usually put a marker on frame "0", but putting it on frame "1" doesn't help.

Never had that happen myself. Don't see it frequently reported here.

You're using the current 18.1.4 version?

When does it go missing? When you place it or after you restart, etc. You may need to make a screen reccording to show the issue. I can't replicate it on my system.

I did a little testing and found this.

The first marker only disappears on timelines that have TimeCode starting at 0:00:00, any timeline that starts at 1:00:00 is fine.

Only the timeline that is left Open or Active when BMDR is closed seems to be the timeline that loses it's first marker. A co-worker saw the marker come back once he opened the project that had a different timeline active/open, but we haven't been able to recreate this recreated this.

I always have timelines starting at 0. My work doesn't require otherwise.

And I usually have a Marker at the first frame.

It's not normal for it to disappear.

Didn't figure it was normal.

It's not confined to one machine either. Happens on any of the 3 workstations, all on a shared network.

I just tested this issue. I can confirm that the first marker set to 00:00:00:00 is missing on the active timeline after restarting Resolve. I'm also on Mac Ventura, Mac Studio.

Same problem here with Resolve 18.1.4 on macOS Big Sur.

Obviously, markers are universal across all pages; they appear on Cut, Edit, and Fairlight.

At first I thought the marker at 0:0 won't be saved after exit. But it is correctly saved. Why? Because after restart it does appear in Fairlight. It just doesn't appear on the Cut and Edit pages. The data loader for Cut and Edit seems to suppress marker loadings that are positioned at zero.

(I had a similar problem in version 17: Sometimes clip colors of clips that start at 0:0 didn't load after restart. So far this never happened again in version 18.)

Our work around has been to start timelines at TC of 0:00:00:01, then on the deliver page, change it back to 00:00:00:00 in the file portion of settings. Seems to work so far.

I may try on my laptop, but we really only want official release loaded with our busy season coming up. It's when the IT guy becomes an editor and we won't have time for trouble shooting.
