Can't record voiceover in Fairlight

Hello all,

Mac OS 13, DR 18 (updated March 28th 2023). Microphone is Shure MV7 USB.

I'm trying to record a VO track directly into Fairlight. I've seen all the YouTube tutorials. I can create a mono track, then go to the input/output patch and connect my mic to the track input. Everything looks good, but when I arm the track for recording, I get nothing. No meter movement, nothing.

I've even tried another USB mic, same results. I just can't get it to work and I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is the Shure configured as the default device in AMS?
macOS Applications folder > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup

Right click the device in the source list and select "Use this device for sound input"

I can't right click the mic in AMS. It's also listed twice, once as an output device, then as an input.

Reynaud Venter, I saw your reply to another thread about this same topic. You asked something about a "valid path". What is considered a valid path? Mine is set to /Users/*********/Movies/Capture, with ******** being my name

Valid path will point to an available volume (i.e. not temporary external storage) and specify an existing target location (i.e. not a directory that is no longer available).
