Stop video and audio tracks from scrolling

PostSat Jun 03, 2023 12:08 am

When I'm adding new clips to a video or audio track, the tracks will shift up and down a bit as I drag the clip to the desired track. How do I prevent the tracks from doing this?
I have too many tracks to display them all at one time, so I need to be able to scroll up and down with the scroll bars on the right, but I don't want the scrolling to occur when I'm dragging something onto a track.

Bumping this up to try to get a reply. The way the tracks jump vertically when dragging a new clip onto the timeline is really distracting.

The tracks move to accommodate new added tracks. One way around this is to use a second monitor and select Full Screen Timeline.

You might also try a higher resolution monitor. A 32" UHD offers some nice real estate for editing. ;)
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Thanks folks, but those answers don't really address the basic question. When I drag something from the media pool to the timeline, all tracks in the timeline jump incrementally (I have more tracks than will fit on the screen all at once). Is there a way to lock the position of the tracks on the screen so they don't do this?

That is where more screen room helps.

I don't know of any other way to stop this behavior.
