If you don't have a display connected, or disconnecting it doesn't help, send another Resolve log and also send a Windows System Information .NFO file.

Hi Dwaine

No external display. Attached is resolve log. This forum wont let me upload the .NFO as it is too large.

Please also provide the oft requested, seldom provided Windows System Information .NFO file.

Open Windows System Information, then select File - Save to generate the .NFO file.

You have a display connected to the NVIDIA card and you have a display connected to the motherboard.

Move the display that's connected to the motherboard over to the NVIDIA card. Or disconnect it.

All displays need to be connected to the NVIDIA card.

If that doesn't help, send another Resolve log and NFO file.

I'm not sure what's up with your system. You have a mobo and CPU that support Intel HD4000 onboard graphics. Your log shows errors as if perhaps you have displays connected to both onboard and the RX570 connectors.

Yet, your NFO file shows no sign of the Intel HD4000 graphics, and there appear to be no Intel graphics drivers installed.

Yet, you have the Intel igfxtray.exe app in your Startup programs list. Implying that at some point, there were Intel graphics happening.

You do have the current AMD driver for the RX570 installed.

So I'm really not sure what to suggest. For sure I'd remove the igfxtray.exe app from the Startup tab in Task Manager.

Also, install the new Resolve 16.2.1 release, to see what affect that has.

And if, by some chance, you really do have a display connected to any of the motherboard video connectors, remove that, or move it to the RX570 card.

If none of that helps, please provide a new NFO and Resolve log after doing all that.

Hello everyone,

I'm a new user and I'm also having issues with the playback. The timeline goes something like this:

1. I first installed the DR v16.2. on the 14th of April. Immediately, I started having issues with playback everywhere - in the timeline and in the import sections. I tried restarting DR and Windows a number of times, upgraded the graphic driver and after a while (a few hours of trying) the issue just went away, not sure what was the reason. Great, now let's get to work.

2. After a few weeks, a new update came along and upgraded DR to v16.2.1. and immediately after the update the same issue with the playback popped back up. My guess was that something was wrong with the update, so I reverted to the previous version but that didn't help at all. Again, I tried the new version, and wouldn't you know it, it worked. That was yesterday.

3. Today the same issue is back with a vengeance. So now I have the latest version of DR, updated drivers, and BIOS and I tried restarting DR and Windows a number of times.

Please help? This is really frustrating as this issue keeps reappearing with no clear indication of what is causing it and it's hard to get anything done.

Please find the .nfo file attached. Thank you.

Please provide a Resolve Diagnostics log. Resolve Help menu: Create Diagnostics Log on Desktop.

A project export .drp file of a project having playback issues would also be helpful.

Sure, here are the requested files.

FYI - If I start a new project from scratch the issue doesn't go away.

@Christian: Remove the display connected to the onboard graphics connector, or move it to the GTX card. All displays need to be connected to the GTX card.

Hello,

Both my Source Monitor and my Playback monitor only show"black" when I try to playback video. I can hear the audio but I can't see any video.

I'm trying to start a basic editing project using Resolve. I am inporting video files that I have used successfully in an Adobe Premiere CC project. It is a combination of different video file types. Some are MXF files shot on a Sony XD disc camera. Some are files from Hero 7, and Hero 3 Go Pros.

They have worked fine in my Adobe Premiere Edit. I was able to complete a nice multicam project that is already airing on my local channel. Now I want to try Davinci Resolve to see if it is a viable alternative to Adobe Premiere.

I can't even use these files if I can see them.

I've noticed that you always ask to see the System Information file (.nfo). So I am including a link below that should give you access to my .nfo file from my Google drive.

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1OUyFo ... cgAKp8JL3j

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Scott

Did you notice we also always ask for a Resolve diagnostics log file?

But in this case, I'll suggest you move your display from the onboard graphics to the RTX2080 card.

All displays need to be on the main GPU, and none on the motherboard integrated graphics.

If that still doesn't help, send a Resolve log file, generated from the Resolve Help menu: "Create Diagnostics Log on Desktop"

I can't tell for sure, since you didn't also send the always requested NFO file, but based on the logs, I'll guess you have one or more displays connected to the onboard graphics. All displays need to be connected to the GTX1070 card.

If that doesn't help, send an NFO file.

As noted in the response just above your post, any and all displays need to be connected to the main GPU and not to the onboard graphics connector.

So move the cable for your display from the onboard graphics port on the computer motherboard, and plug it into the GTX 1650 card.

The rear of your PC likely looks like this:

dell_rear.PNG
dell_rear.PNG (152.98 KiB) Viewed 544109 times

Your display is currently connected to one of the connectors in the upper circled area. Either the HDMI port or the VGA port.

You have a GTX 1650 graphics card installed in a PCIe slot, in the lower circled area.

The rear of the GTX 1650 likely looks something like this:

If your display is connected to the HDMI port, then just move it to the HDMI port on the GTX 1650 card.

If your display is connected to the VGA port, then you'll need a new cable or an adapter on the existing cable that will allow it to be plugged into one of the GTX 1650 ports.

Until 16.1.2 resolve worked with my setup: 2 Monitors connected to an onboard HD 530 and 1 Monitor connected to a weaker Geforce GT 710

After installing 16.2.1 Update today, I had no preview video just as described here, with the picture sometimes showing for a splitsecond and then gray.

So I installed updates for the Geforce (clean install) and the HD 530. After doing that, Resolve starts as a window with just black in it completely (after opening a project). Menues etc. can still be clicked though, if I find them blindly. So I could export a Log.

There is no way I can connect all 3 monitors to the dedicated card, and it worked before with this setup. What changed?

Andreas, u can only have monitors on one GPU and given both are low power, I’d suggest a new much more powerful one if u want three monitors. In the meantime remove the monitors on the least powerful currently installed

Thank you, but this still does not answer the question: What changed? It used to work with the exact setup with 16.1.2... And why is the UI now completely invisible, after getting the most recent drivers?

Just for testing I deactivated the Geforce instead of completely removing the monitor. Without reboot I could start Resolve and it works, even the UI is back. So this is a workaround. Since most software I use does not make use of a strong GPU, and the i7 was one of the first to offer h265 hardware encoding, the investment in a better dedicated GPU does not really make sense for me. Having the CPU do all the work even works in most video production software I use for what I need to do.

Hi, as if by magic it works!!!
Sorry you must get sick of repeating the same replies. Looking back over the thread it makes perfect sense to me now, BUT I did not know that I could connect to my graphics card so easily! ( Although I did need to buy a DVI cable as no HDMI port on my monitor.)
Many thanks for your help and patience, you do a great job.

Hi all,

I had the same problem with Resolve 16.2.1. I saw here the problem might be with out-of-date drivers, so, since I didn't know which one was the driver causing the problem, I installed a driver updater software and updated all the ones that were out-of-date, and BAM!! Problem solved!!! :D

P.S.: I used "Driver Boost 7". It's free and worked very well.

Dwaine,

Sorry for a super long delay in responding.... THANK You!!! I had to consult an online setup manual for my Dell Alienware Aurora R9 Computer...

I discovered that the Graphics Card ports are covered by default with a sort of trap door that slides up and out the way revealing their access! I plugged my display port cable into the alternate ports and Viola, I now can see my video inside my Davinci Resolve project!

Thanks very much for your help and patience!

Be Blessed,

Hi

Please help me. I am running Davinci Resolve 16.2.2.012
Playback in Edit mode works fine, but I am unable to get playback working in Fusion. I just keep getting blank windows / no playback.

I don't have onboard graphics...just the Intel HD 520.

I am running the latest graphics drivers as far as I know.

Attached is my NFO file and Resolve logs.

Thanks and regards

It's very unlikely that GPU will work with Fusion.
Are you able to update it to a much more powerful one from the last 12 months with at least 4GB of GPU memory for HD work and 8GB for higher res?

Without the Resolve log as well, can't be positive, but almost certain it's because you don't have all the displays on the NVIDIA 1050 card. That's where they need to be. Certainly the display connected to the onboard video connector needs to move to the 1050.

I don't know what the DisplayLink USB devices are all about, and whether those might also cause issues.

I don't know what the DisplayLink USB devices are all about, and whether those might also cause issues.

The displaylink is a usb docking station. It was working before but now it isn't. Attached is my resolve log.

Logs show not all displays are in the GTX1050.

Have you moved the display that was connected to the onboard video port, to the GTX1050?

If so, if you remove the docking station, does Resolve work properly then?

If you want Resolve to work properly, then you are going to need to only have displays connected to the GTX1050 card.

But please, do a test with moving the display that's connected to the onboard video port, to the GTX1050 card. That may (or may not) allow the USB connected display(s) to work.

You need to move your display from the onboard video connector and connect it to the GTX 1660 Ti card.

I'm also facing this issue, but before that I was using Davinci Resolve 15 since 2018. It suddenly stopped working a while ago, every time I opened a new project, it just appears as a white background. I tried opening older projects, same thing happens. I figured I need to install the latest Davinci Resolve, so I did. I thought everything was fixed until I saw that any video couldn't be watched through the playback screen. It appears for a split second if you drag your cursor towards the clips, but returns to a grey screen later. I thought my nvidia driver was the problem so I updated it and installed the latest one, nothing happens. I tried reinstalling Davinci again after i updated my nvidia driver, nothing still happens. I tried uninstalling and installing several older versions of Davinci, same thing happens. I scrolled through the forum and tried some "fixes" other people did to fix their similar problem with mine, nothing still happened. Now I'm really stuck and in need of help.

It won't let me attach things so here's my dxdiag and nfo in my google drive:
