You mean add individual sounds?
yes but...

I am not sure that would work because you can only give it a directory not a file. When I gave the directory it then reloaded all audio files in that directory and the in the sub directories as new entires. That caused my initial problem of having 1500 duplicate entries. I had to delve round in the maze of resolve files to delete the database file and reload again from an empty library.

Also there is only ONE library. So if I load multiple libraries they merge into one.
I have a large SFX library. It is in several subdirectories but Resolve loads it as one library with no subsections.
I also have a music library. If I load that all the files are intermixed with the SFX library. You can't select it and search it separately. Also if any one thing changes you have to delete the database file and reload the whole lot again.

Hi,

Just installed Resolve in a Windows machine. It's working OK.
I can't make the Fairlight Sound Library to be ready to use, after the install it's not on the selection list.
Any clue?

Thanks in advance.

I see you have made the mistake of not using the "obvious" search using "***" rather than the "obviously wrong" string "*.*" :-)

It catches almost everyone and there is a post almost every other day about "why can't I see the contents of the audio library". There are calls for the library to list by default rather than needing ***

This is the big problem with Resolve it works with one mindset and most Resolve users seem to be working (or have experience of ) different ways of working. Hence many calls for improving reliability and improving functions already in Resolve before adding anything new.

Also it won't let you add separate multiple audio libraries. It mashes them all into one.

How did you add the database?

BTW you can only have ONE local database (other than the BMD supplied Fairlight Audio library) . so all collections will mashed into one under the original heading.

In FCPX the sound effect are shown hierarchically in folders which is a Good Idea(tm) especially where I have CD's (of licensed music) I use that i want to add as a set of albums. Normally in iTunes.

I added it with the installer.
The named Local Database is the default of Resolve. It's empty, I didn't use it. I can deleteit, no problem.

For some reason I had to run the installer twice before the sound library showed up. It is also probably a good idea to close and restart Resolve.

Are you adding a new local database or trying to replace the main Resolve one?

The “Fairlight Sound Library” will be available in the following directory containing a "Database" and "Media Files" folder: /Users/Home/Movies/Fairlight Sound Library

The media may also be manually added to any user created Database.

Select the preferred Database and access the “Add Library” function from the Fairlight Sound Library panel's Additional Options (3 dots) menu and point to the path containing the “Fairlight Sound Library 1.0” media.

Was the source media location or storage volume changed?
