Congratulations to Blackmagic because with this update to Davinci Resolve and their hardware they continue to be at the forefront of cinematography.

I would like to take this opportunity to suggest that Meta's AI called SAM be added to Davinci Resolve, which allows you to delimit the elements of an image with amazing precision.
I make this suggestion because I believe that Meta has released this tool so that it can be used without restrictions

ABSOLUTELY NOT.
There is no way Resolve should be connected to any Facebook company any more than it should be connected to TikTok.

So far I am absolutely thrilled with all the new features! Great job Blackmagic!

On a side note, I've tried the presentations this morning and it seems to work super smoothly... however, in that particular case, my edit was in portrait mode (1080x1920) and the player in the presentations stretched my video to fit the default 16x9 format and I can't seem to change it. Besides that, it seems to work beautifully. Hoping this gets solves quickly because I work with a whole lot of different formats with different clients.

Presentation will make me get the cloud server now. I didn't;t really have a big use for it before however the ability to interact with my clients this way means that I can quit paying for FrameIO and Adobe. And that is worth the cost of buying some new hardware.

Disappointed that it's only Monterey or above, I can only use it on my iPad air now!

Steve.

While you can install Monterey on some older Macs with a hack, DR will not be a joy to use.
With all the new features, you need the power. Time for a new machine.
BTW, I’m glad that Apple is still taking good care for that OS. The last update was only about 2 days ago. Seems that a large part of their user base doesn’t like to switch to Ventura.

Don't want to remap my S/E keys - but I DO hope the multicam source grid now matches the S/E's camera button layout! Or is at least an option.

Did we really jump from 18.1.4 to 18.5? What happened to 18.2, 18.3 and 18.4?

Or is "18.5" just a typo and it's really supposed to be "18.1.5"?

This is normal for numbering software versions.

The changes in 18.5 are not quite enough to justify a version 19, but significantly more than simply the next small step.

Going up a half step is reasonable, and assuming there won't be a 19 until next year, I expect 18.5.1, 18.5.2, eventually 18.6, etc.

BMD doesn’t tell us what will appear in a release. The only way we find out is to see a feature appear in a build.

All. I love the Text Based editing feature, as I am close to no longer needing DeScript, as I only use it for this very reason. I have a question for you all. When you use the Transcription editing function and you remove mistakes, silences etc that all works brilliantly when you append or create a sub clip with the ORIGINAL Video and associated Audio.

My question is, if you also have imported a separate better quality Audio track which has then been sync'd with the Camera Audio track, how do you get the Transcription editor to split and remove THAT track information aswell as they Camera Audio track.

I have tried unlinking the Camera Audio from the Video, and deleting it, so that just the Video clips and the additional better quality Audio track are in the timeline, even trying to link them together, but when you go back into the Transcription editor and delete anything, gaps, mistakes or grab sections and click append. What it does it bring back the Video Audio with it and ignores the additional Audio track.

I have asked BM this question also, just waiting on a response, but thought someone here may have already resolved this. I can't be the only one who wants this to work :) If all I did was record from a Boom mic on the Camera, then this is perfect and gives me a solution to move me away from DeScript .. but not being able to text edit out my gaps at the same time on my imported WAV from my Zoom F3, does not give me the ultimate solution I am looking for.

any help would be appreciated!

in 18.6.5 build 7
Edit Page , Inspector, Super Scale -- question

Why does Super Scale apply itself to every copy of the same video on a timeline?

If I place a video on the timeline (from the media pool) and apply Super Scale (in Inspector), whatever I do with Super Scale is applied to any/all copies of the same video on that same timeline, why? Any ideas anybody? Seems odd, just curios as to the logic.

To be clear, no matter when or where on the timeline I place copies of the same video (from the media pool); if I select any single copy of the that video on the timeline and then enable/disable/adjust Super Scale in Inspector, all copies of the video will instantly adopt the exact same Super Scale settings as they are changed for that single copy of the video that has been selected.

I apologize if this is the wrong place to ask. My forum searches led me here.

Did you try subclips?
