Computer constanty crashing on PC but fine on Mac

PostThu Oct 10, 2019 1:34 am

Hi,
I'm running DaVinci Resolve on a PC with:
CPU - i9-9900K @ 3.60Hz (Fan cooled)
RAM - 32 (2x16) RAM Corsair Vengeance DDR4
GPU - Quadro P2000

The computer freezes when rendering after a few minutes and editing at times. If I take the same file to a Mac laptop it is much slower but stable. Any suggestions on why?

Thanks in advance, Lou

The p2000 is not ideal depending on time and clips res and frame rate.
It also might be a GPU driver issue

Thanks Peter,
I did a render using only the CPU i9-9900K and there was no overheating sounds this time. Unfortunately it only rendered 68% of the job and then the computer froze.
Also, is there a list of recommended GPUs.
Best,
Lou

I finely got to the bottom of the problem. When the computer was put together the thermal gel was not applied correctly, leaving about 20% unprotected. As the i9 chip runs hot it simply overheated when rendering and shut down.
