Is there a way to refresh an asset?

Hi,

I had a png graphic in the edit page timeline which I swapped out for another version with the same file name, it seemed a struggle to get Resolve to refresh the new graphic? i even deleted it from the media bin and re imported it, but it still displayed the old version. I had to finally create a new png with different name and import it that way.

Is refreshing an asset not possible?

I would delete the render cache and/or check your Performance Settings and see if it eliminates the "stuck" file.

Welcome in the club :-) NO. THERE IS NO WAY. :-)
I tried to report this many times but I did give up then...

+1 on that. Only way I've found to replace a still with an updated version with the same name is to close down DR and restart.

I have this problem too. A workaround I found was a combination of changing the clip's color in the sequence and/or changing the timeline viewing options. Here's a quick screencast I did demonstrating this:

Sad times :| that makes it clunky

Is there a way to swap a clip on the timeline for another? in premiere you could drag an asset from the bin over the top on a timeline clip (holding down a key I think) and it would swap it.

Yes, you can replace clip.

I think Blackmagic should consider changing the name to Davinci Workaround Resolve. :D

Discussion of this issue on another forum: https://liftgammagain.com/forum/index.p ... ost-133816

The times that I've encountered it are when using stills and over-writing the still with an updated version. The thread in the forum discusses it happening with video and the possibility that the optimized media is getting in the way. In my case, I'm not using optimized media but I suspect for a still that DR has it in a memory cache or just simply loaded into memory. A refresh/reload button would be nice.

It's the lack of essential features like this one that make me realize why Premiere - even with all of its bugs - is still the leader in professional NLEs. DR may be a great piece of software but all these bugs and lack of essential features is sure making me question my decision to switch to DR. It's making me wonder what other basic functionality is missing in DR that I'm about to find out next...
