Can you specify more details.
Free, studio, Apple store?
CPU, gpu, memory codecs...
Also did you just upgraded the OS?
Did everything worked before upgrading?

Thanks! this is a davinci Resolve studio. licensed with code I had by buying the 6k BMPCC
downloaded from blackmagic design.
this is a mac pro late 2013
3,7ghz intel xeon e5
12gb memory 1866 Mhz ddr3
amd firepro d300 2gb card
(memory codecs... not sure where to look for it)
running macOS catalina 10.15.1 beta
it worked with 10.15.1, I'm pretty sure it's the Catalina beta but just in case it's something I can fix
nothing urgent, anyway

The D300 GPU is not particularly powerful.

Can u test the Resolve operation with an HD image from another source as I doubt the system will deal with 6k.

hey folks thanks!!!
just in case anyone else runs into this.
I opted out from beta versions of mac.
then I downloaded the official catalina version from apple store. and installed it
everything is back to normal and perfectly working now...
so next version of catalina may have incompatibility issues just be aware before upgrading
