Audio clip only uses lower half of track height

PostTue Nov 19, 2019 7:23 am

Hello,

I'm a beginner with video editing and trying to do travel videos for YouTube.

I ran into an issue with my Audio Tracks.

The two upper audio tracks and corresponding clips are mono but the tracks seem to be divided in the middle and the clips only use the lower half.
I can drag another clip in the upper half of an track and the clip then stacks on top of the other but both get squashed and sit in the lower half of the track.

The normal behavior I would expect is that the clips should use full track height and when dragging one over the other the old one should either be moved sideways or overwritten.

I've tried googling but can't get behind what's the problem here.

I'm using the latest stable resolve 16.1 update on an 2019 Lenovo legion laptop with Nvidia graphics and windows 10.

When I originally edited this project with an earlier version of resolve everything was as I would have expected.
I tried doing an empty project which shows the same behavior as described.
Also I tried resetting the system and user preferences which also didn't help.

Please help me out.

Best regards
Sebastian

I always recommend a two step process.

1. First learn.

https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/produc ... e/training

2. Then do.

I find that many people want to skip step 1, and those folks usually end up having unnecessary difficulty.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Ensure that View > Show Audio Track Layers isn’t enabled.

That was awesome!! It worked and I've been suffering with that for months. I'm so shocked that DR make that on by default. Who on Earth would use that by default?

For the comment above from Jim Simon..

He forgot that we came here to learn. This is where you go to learn Jim. If you don't want to help, don't answer the question. No one asked you personally. They asked "professionals" who want to help new learners. I feel sorry for the guy who asked. NO, you DON'T go LEARN FIRST. 40 years ago yes. Now, you go to YouTube and the software forums to "learn" first. Sorry, but it makes me off to see innocent people looking for help get told they are stupid for asking the right person for help.

I came here searching for the same answer. Thank you so much to the person who answered it.

And yeah, the other guy quoted above is a jerk.
