Installation Issue when Installing DaVinci Resolve 16.1.2

PostMon Dec 23, 2019 9:00 pm

I recently reset my Windows 10 computer, and am trying to install DaVinci Resolve 16.1.2 (also tried the studio version) and each time, after I finish the setup, it has an error that it cannot read from a file in \Onedrive\Desktop\Resolve.ink. I uninstalled Onedrive (I use Google Drive), uninstalled all Blackmagic software, and tried again, and it still brought up the same error. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

That seems like just a bad desktop icon link.

What happens if you go to the C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve folder in File Explorer and double click Resolve.exe?

So, when the popup occurs, it has two options: retry and cancel. Retry just starts it again, and cancel starts it to "roll-back" progress, and nothing installs. So, there is no Blackmagic Design folder in Program Files and Program Files (x86) doesn't have a DaVinci Resolve folder.

If there is no Blackmagic Design folder in C:\Program Files, then Resolve is not installed.

What popup are you referring to?

Charles,

As requested in the FAQs - viewtopic.php?f=21&t=90190 - please state your hardware, operating system and other systems specs explicitly - example: Windows 10 Home build 1903.

If possible, walk us through your actions and what you see. Please provide an SPX file (instructions in FAQ).

I too am trying to install Resolve 16.2.8.005 on a Windows 10 ASUS laptop and am sitting at the dialog box with the sliding blue box that says, "Wait, this operation could take some time...." I've been waiting here 3 hours. Is this normal? How long is "some time"? This seems extreme already.

I can't seem to find my earlier post to edit it, so I'm adding this, because all replies seem to begin by asking for this info. See screenshot...

In a File Explorer window, go to:

C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve

and run CaptureLogs

This will place a Resolve log file named similar to this on your Windows desktop: DaVinci-Resolve-logs-20181228_140434.zip (You may not see the .zip extension if your system is set to hide known extensions).

Then open Windows System Information and do a File - Save (Not a File Export), which will generate a .NFO file.

Place both those files on a file sharing site and provide links to the files here.

If you are a new Forum user, you may not be allowed to post URLs. If this happens, just put a space near the front of the URL, so the system doesn't think it's a URL.
