Audio out of phase.

PostSun Dec 29, 2019 8:40 pm

Hi all. I was editing a video and a few clips seem to be out of phase. How do I fix this?

Thanks,

Currently only the Audio Track Polarity may be adjusted via the Fairlight page's Path Settings window. A Polarity button is provided next to the Trim control.

For Audio Clips consider a third party plugin.

You're talking a stereo clip where the two channels are out of phase? (With a mono clip, I'm not sure what I'd understand "out of phase" to mean.)

Or do you mean you have two versions of the audio -- say one with on-camera mic and one with Zoom recorder near the speaker -- and after aligning them they seem to be phasing against each other? (Perhaps because aligned to the nearest video frame.)

Depending on what you're experiencing it may not actually require any phase changing.

(If it does, I've had great success with Izotope RX. If Phase is included in the Elements package and it's on sale, could be a very useful addition to your toolbox.)

Thank You, Reynaud!
That means, if you have some clips with flipped polarity, you have to put them on a separate audio track (with the polarity switch engaged) - easy.
But all other audio editing software solutions provide an offline polarity switcher - it should be not a big deal for Blackmagic to do so...

A helpful VST PlugIn for Mac and Windows:

It is (still) for free.
Blackmagic Design: Maybe worth integrating??
