I get an error that says:

Failed to export still: Failed to retrieve still image from disk, export failed for still 041658a2-7c6d-4755-95c2-1fd21b316b4e

Deleted all stills and started creating them again. Appears to be working.

That error would generally mean that the full res DPX frame of the still is missing. That's the frame that is used when you do a wipe in the Viewer.

Yeah it's kinda strange, as I had just created them moments earlier before the attempt to export. However, after deleting all the stills and re-grabbing the frames I was able to export again.

Hi, same problem here with 16.2.0.055.
Deleted screen grabs and made a new one, no luck

Restarted the app, still same error:

Failed to export still: Failed to retrieve still image from disk, export failed for still 87f36a08-c00b-4bfe-9b9b-6976dd44d7af

When I go with my mouse over the screen grab, the image disappears. This would indicate what Dwaine said. But the media is mounted and I can play/edit it. How can it be gone? Footage is BRAW 6K @30fps out of pocket cinema.

I am messing about with 1920x1080 and 1080x1920 resolutions, could that have anything to do with it?
(adapting HDTV 1920x1080 for IGTV..)

Any workarounds? Just need a screen grab for a cover picture..

If you right click the still and select Properties, it will show you the path and name of the full res DPX version of the still. Verify that you really see that file name in that path.

couple days later (mac was off in between):
Still no file of that particular grab. Export still fails.
Properties do indicate a file: (see attached picture, files are on an SSD dedicated for cache)
When I go to the indicated path in the finder, this file doesn't exist there... Only a Info.txt file

Made some more screen grabs. These dpx files now do appear in the same cache directory. They can now also be exported. Still, all the screen grabs including the missing one have their thumbnail image displayed in the gallery, but the image goes black when I go over them with the mouse which is weird.

So it seems in the .dpx file was not generated for some reason. Also when making multiple other screenshots, none of them would export. Tried the same thing a couple days later and now it seems to work. Except for the mouseover thing still has the image go black.

I'm getting failed export also... it literally started after doing a few, then all of a sudden started failing...
Seems to me I remember this happening to me before but I can't rember how it got fixed... arg!!

I just ran into the same problem... has to be a bug.. I mean. Davinci thinks it has saved a DPX-file in the mentioned folder, but no file is made..

Happened again this week. I needed to close DR and open again.
