No HDR Output From Resolve to Decklink to LG OLED

Setting up HDR system now on my new Mac Pro 16core with LG OLED just professionally calibrated today.

Decklink Extreme 12G is set to output Rec 2020 over HDMI

Resolve timeline is with Pocket 6K footage shot in Blackmagic RAW. Resolve is set up to enable HDR metadata over HDMI, timeline set to output Rec 2020 color space with Reec 2100 ST2084 gamma.

It is not sending HDR flag and the monitor does not switch to HDR as it should.

Blackmagic does not provide any Resolve set up over the phone and requires posting to forum.

Any help would be appreciated

I'm not familiar with the Decklink hardware, but technically, Rec.2020 is an SDR specification. Rec.2100 is it's HDR equivalent. Is that an option in the hardware settings?

Only hardware option on Decklink is Output Rec 2020 Metadata over HDMI

The one thing that BMD tech support would say on the phone is that the metadata should trigger the monitor into HDR mode

I'm having similar issues with the DeckLink Mini Monitor 4K. Blackmagic support told me that I had a defective card, but I'm skeptical as everything else works perfectly, and television HDR mode is triggered when HDR metadata option is checked under Resolve version 15, but not 16 or 17. This is the case for both my TCL and my LG CX. Recently I discovered that if I enable Dolby Vision, the HDR mode will be triggered on the LG, but strangely NOT in Dolby Vision mode.

I was also able to briefly override the LG's HDMI signaling using a hidden menu (Google LG 1113111 to find the instructions). However, when I switched to a different input and back again, the HDR gamma setting produced SDR gamma, and no longer triggers HDR mode on the TV for any input. ST2084 and HLG still work, though.

Frustrating, to say the least.

I will also add that HDR is triggered from FCPX, so there is no reason why it shouldn't work from Resolve.

I'm getting ready to try the same thing you have, only from a Windows based system. Also planning on trying it with a LG CX.
Just wondering, did you ever get it to work with Resolve and the LG? If so, what was the solution? Also, if it is now working correctly, are you happy with your ability to work with HDR with Resolve and the LG CX?
If anyone else has any personal incite regarding this workflow compatibility , please feel free to chime in! I should add that the camera I will be using is a Sony A7SIII, mostly SLOG3.

Only certain HDMI cables will send HDR metadata. I have lots of cables that won't.

Cable has nothing directly to do with metadata itself. Metadata is tiiiiny portion of HDMI signal, so ANY cable can send it.
You just want to buy a certified cable for given spec. No point wasting money for some 100x overpriced cables as they provide nothing (it's just a cable) on top of 'decent' cable. On the other hand never buy 1$ HDMI cables either. They are simply crap and those can cause a lot of issue (the longer cable you buy the better it should be). Amazon basic is probably cheapest option which should be fine. I would say 10$/Euro/£ should be optimal or typical 1-3m HDMI 2.0 cable.

So you get an image, just no HDR mode is triggered?
From what you are saying all should be fine.
Just a note- it's output color setting which is crucial here- not the timeline.
Send a grab of you project color settings.

If you plan to work with different HDR standards, you can always buy one of the HDFury boxes and insert into chain- then you can inject very precise HDR metadata in HDMI signal.

I'm not following it, so not sure if Resolve itself can actually send properly flagged HLG signal over HDMI. In the past it was not possible (if I remember it well). In such a case HDFury box would be even more relevant.

Rec.2020 is a wide color gamut specification. Rec.2100 is the umbrella that covers HDR, including Rec.2020.

To the OP, can you take a screenshot of your color management settings?
