Cut page Source Tape view shows only one clip - how to fix?

I've just started using the new version 16 Cut page and have found an unexpected behaviour that is not mentioned in the manual.

For some reason during the normal procedure of setting in/out points in the source tape view and inserting or appending the clips to the timeline, the source tape view goes from showing all of the clips in the media pool, to only showing a single clip. There doesn't seem to be any obvious way to go back to showing the "normal" source tape view with all of the clips, or to move away from the selected clip.

I've attached a screen shot to show what it looks like:

The only way I've found to fix it is to close the project and re-open it, at which point the source tape view reverts to showing all of the clips in sequence:

I can see that the single clip view shows "Master - subclip", but I don't see how I entered this mode.

I can't positively say what sequence of actions causes the source tape to show only a single clip, but it's quite annoying, and I'd be very grateful if any of you could shed any any light on why this happens and how to fix it!

Many thanks!

John.

So has no-one else seen this?

Is it a bug or something that I'm doing wrong? I thought it might have happened when splitting a clip to create a new sub-clip (hence the source tape viewer showing the title "Master - Subclip", but I couldn't repeat this.

I just don't use the Cut page, myself. Too...limiting.

John

When you got into the single "subclip" mode, did you have any In/Out points marked?
If the media pool was active, did you note any additional clips in the media pool then?

Thanks
Shrinivas

Hi Shrinivas,

Yes, I'm pretty sure that I've seen this when selecting in/out points in the source tape. I'm afraid that I can say whether there were any other clips in the Media Pool active at the time, but I will look out for this the next time it happens.

Sometimes I find that I set in/out points on adjacent clips, i.e. if I have short clips, sometimes the out point ends up in the next clip unintentionally. I don't know if this makes any difference - or causes a sub-clip to be created inadvertently.

My question is whether this "single-clip" view in the source-tape viewer is normal behaviour for Resolve, or whether it's a bug? If it's a normal features, then it's not at all clear how to get back to the usual source-tape view!

Thanks,

John

Get me into the "single-clip" view, or get me out of it?

I'll assume the latter, and will try this the next time it happens. I'll update this thread with any new information.

Many thanks!

John.

I am a TOTAL noob, have been trying to make it past page 20 of the damn Cooking Show because of this issue. Thanks for the tip about hitting "escape"!

Maybe I can make it thru this damn lesson at least once...

I had exactly the same problem. Hitting Escape popped me out to normal Source Tape view with all the clips.
